Just as summer arrives, I’m hitting publish on the last quilt pattern release for this year! The Vincent quilt is my 8th pattern produced in six months and this girl is taking a much needed break until mid-September. I’ve not had a proper break for several years and there’s a lot of things I need to catch up on over here. But don’t worry, I’m still busy working on fabric collections for next year and new quilt patterns for next year as well—I’ll be a little MIA for a couple months and back for hosting Gifting Handmade 2025 in the fall. I’ll still be posting on Instagram and sharing what I’m working on during my break so stop by over there and say ‘hi”.
The Vincent quilt was inspired by summer and my new Art Gallery Fabrics Midsummer collection. The name Vincent is for the sunflower blocks in the quilt and Vincent Van Gogh’s famous sunflower paintings. I loved making this quilt so much that I made two samples.
Cover Quilt
The Vincent quilt is made up of two blocks, the sunflower blocks and the leaves blocks and when assembled, you get a sunflower field! I went very true to nature on this cover quilt’s colors and used AGF Pure Solids Hunter Fields for the dark green solid and the rest of the fabrics are prints from my Midsummer collection to make colorful sunflowers.
You can find the kit for the Vincent cover quilt at Midlife Quilter, HERE.
The cover quilt is the twin/full size quilt and was quilted by Brooke Becker of Lady Belle Fabric using the Mod Blossom pantograph pattern from OESD and a thread color called Cheesecake. I used Hobbs Batting Tuscany Cotton/Wool blend batting inside for a think but traditional drape.
I used the Meadow Vignette print from the Midsummer collection for the backing and decided to make some matching pillowcases with crochet edges. You can find the Overlap Closure Pillowcase pattern in my SHOP along with the new Vincent quilt pattern.
Crib Quilt
Like I said earlier, I enjoyed making the cover quilt so much that I decided to make a crib quilt just to see how it would look with a light background. I love this one, too and it’s extra sweet as a baby quilt.
For the baby Vincent, I used prints from my Midsummer collection (some are the same in both quilts) but switched out the dark green solid background for the Tiny Dancer Flaxen print from the collection and AGF Subtle Sage Decostich for the leaves for an overall lighter, more pastel-look. My Midsummer Stitching Aurifil thread set coordinates beautifully with the fabrics.
I was really strapped for time making this baby quilt so to get it done in a timely manner, I machine quilted it myself using Hobbs Polydown batting inside for that wonderful puff, the Tiny Dancer flannel in Lilac from the collection for the backing, and stitched in the ditch around the sunflower and leaves shapes. I’m thrilled with how it turned out and the polyester batting lets me get away with wider spacing between quilting so it didn’t need to be densely quilted.
Both the Vincent cover quilt and the baby quilt use the same AGF 2.5 Edition binding from the Midsummer collection but I’ve used the peachy-pink side for the cover quilt and the green side for the baby quilt to get two different looks! You can get the kit for this Vincent crib quilt at Midlife Quilter, HERE,

Tracey’s color inspiration came from the Granny Squares webbing and she made two different Vincent quilt block to make a tote bag!
